Trial of Labor – The Documentary

Huntsville Screenings

Were hosted by: UAHuntsville OB Nursing Faculty & ICAN of Huntsville

UAHuntsville OB Nursing Faculty and ICAN of Huntsville co-hosted free Public and Professional Screenings of the documentary Trial of Labor. The screenings were held at the UAHuntsville College of Nursing Building on July 15th and 16th, 2015. After each screening a Q&A Panel sat before the attendees to foster discussion on the film and topics at hand. We thank you to all who came out to support our goals to improve maternal-child health in our area. This film is a very emotional one, especially for those with prior cesareans. We are so proud of so many brave women for crying the tears that needed to come. For giving hugs to one another, a shoulder, a listening ear. We want to thank all of the professionals who came out to learn more about the emotional journey that many women face surrounding a cesarean birth, and births thereafter. We want to send special thank yous to our wonderful panel who helped us answer questions afterwards. It meant SO so much to all of us at UAH Nursing Faculty and ICAN, and most importantly our community.

ABOUT THE FILM

Trial of Labor follows a small group of pregnant women and their journeys back to trusting themselves and their bodies after previous births ended in unplanned surgery. Each woman has chosen to plan a vaginal birth after Cesarean, and the uncertainty of their imminent births evokes in each a personal reckoning: finding a path through unresolved feelings and difficult decisions to the ultimate, unpredictable event of childbirth.

Trial of Labor is a feature documentary produced and directed by Robert Humphreys and executive produced by Elliot Berlin.
