Urgent: ICAN Needs Your Stories of Insurance Discrimination

 

ICAN is in immediately need for stories both big and small from women who have experienced discriminatory insurance practices.  Your story has the potential to make a difference to women all around the United States.

 

This can include but is not limited to:

 

• Demands for sterilization
  
  
• Restrictions on how soon you can have another pregnancy and be covered higher premiums
  
  
• Restrictions on the total amount of benefits insurance companies will pay
  
  
• Excessively high deductibles for maternity care

 

Please send us your name, state, contact information and a description of the circumstances.  Include the name of the relevant insurance company(ies) if possible. Written documentation is ideal but not mandatory. There is interest about this at the highest levels of the Federal Government.  We will use this to open the discussion in other areas of discrimination (like VBAC bans, lack of transparency, etc)… please, take a moment and share your information with ICAN.
