ICAN of New Jersey is comprised of several local chapters of the International Cesarean Awareness Network based in New Jersey.  We are dedicated to providing support to area women who are recovering from a c-section, facing a medically necessary c-section or looking for VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) information. We provide support to women in the entire state.
NJ is currently experiencing a cesarean epidemic.  In 2008, 39.4% of all births were surgical.  More and more hospitals are “banning” VBAC’s, which limits birthing choices for women and often forces them into unwanted and unnecessary surgery.  All birth advocates who are interested in cesarean awareness and improving birth options for NJ women are most welcome!
